Trophy Wife will be representing the IO West in the Harold Competition at the 5th Annual Los Angeles Improv Festival. Funny or Die is generously sponsoring this Harold competition that’s bringing together teams from seven different Los Angeles improv theaters and one team from IO Chicago.
Our Round 1 show is Tuesday evening at 8:30. We’re going up against the Detroit Tigers, a Harold team from Santa Monica’s Westside Eclectic. The show is in the Andy Dick Theater at the IO West. Unlike our usual Wednesday mainstage shows, this one is open to all ages and admission is free.
Check out the Los Angeles Improv Festival schedule for complete details on all the great shows happening next week.
Trophy Wife performed at the 6th annual Phoenix Improv Festival this past Friday.
Nicki Escudero, of the Arizona Republic, caught our show:
Next up was the absolutely hysterical Trophy Wife, from Hollywood. This troupe is really on their stuff, and they managed to fill more than a half hour of time with mini-skits about Twizzlers and all things related. I especially loved their public service announcement which almost convinced me candy is more dangerous than cigarettes. If you happen to go to Los Angeles, you must check them out at the Improv Olympic West.

New York Magazine recently named Trophy Wife as a “Name to Watch” in comedy. This recognition comes in a cover story on attractions in other cities besides NYC (4/10/06 issue). The feature serves as an insider’s travel guide, with the cheeky title “The New Yorkers’ Guide to the Second Greatest Cities in the World.”
The section on Los Angeles (co-written by defamer.com associate editor Seth Abramovitch) astutely recognizes that the L.A. comedy scene is a-buzz right now. And, just as astutely, it recognizes Trophy Wife as a “Name to Watch” in L.A. comedy.
So, New Yorkers, book yourself a flight to L.A. and see what all the fuss is about!
